Lanterns over the beach for Pediatric Cancer Awareness a golden night in Belmar

Codi Gill Debbie Menold Marini, Jersey Joe  are co founders of a foundation named Jersey Shore Miles of Smiles. Tonight, we launched lanterns for Pediatric Cancer Awareness month, as we have several children at the Jersey Shore fighting cancer. This was our first, annual launch. Belmar was so kind to offer their beach, and fire department to assist with the launch. No worries. Happening again next September if you missed the launch. The lanterns were 100% biodegradable, and many fighters were present, launching their red heart lanterns. Supporters launched their 4 ft gold lanterns. Gold is the pediatric cancer ribbon. Pediatric cancer only received 3.86% of funding in the national budget for cancer research. There has only been ONE new form of chemo developed for children since 1986. 82% of childhood cancer survivors develop another major disorder (organ failure, etc) due to the adult treatments they are receiving. Not cool. Tonight was all about awareness and support. Proceeds will benefit trips for our pediatric cancer fighters, and will also be split with Emmanel Cancer Foundation…. 100% of proceeds ;o) So next year, come join in the fun and the beauty. Thanks to Lakehouse Music Academy for the entertainment, and all of our sponsors and vendors. #gogold
